St Paul’s College supports music as an integral part of a holistic education for our young men. We offer instrumental music lessons for brass, woodwind, piano, guitar, percussion and voice. St Paul's has a rich heritage of musical talent and all students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and to seek opportunities to perform.

Learning an instrument helps students in all curriculum areas and builds character and discipline. It helps to create a well-rounded individual.

Curriculum music is a core subject for all Year 7-10 students and is optional Years 11-13.

Instrumental Music Programme

St Paul's has specialist music teachers that teach small groups of students in performance skills and music reading. Instrumental brass and woodwind is compulsory in Year 7 and 8 and from Year 9 may include guitar, piano and percussion.

Instrument Hire

Instruments are hired by families and are available at any reputable music store. We recommend you start by contacting KBB Music who have supported St Paul's consistently in the past. Click HERE to view their rental page.

KBB also has a good range of ex-rental instruments for purchase. 

Music Groups

Concert Band
During Year 8, instrumental students join the Junior Band and in time, will transition into the Concert Band, which represents the College at the annual KBB Festival as well as other playouts and concert opportunities.

Choir
Our Choir offers students opportunities to sing and be part of competitions and festivals as well as part of the performance culture of the College. If your son would like to find out more about the choir, please ask him to see the Director of Music, Mr Glenn Stanbridge.

Performing Arts

Our young men are provided with opportunities to combine with other local colleges to prepare and perform in stage productions. Our aim is to raise the performance culture of our College.
