On Friday 17 March 33 of our Year 7 and 8 AIMS Games students attended a school sleepover. This was put in place to build team chemistry and set expectations for the teams going forward.
The teams kicked off the evening by training hard for two hours before a fantastic shared dinner with our AIMS parents. The generosity was incredible and it was a great chance for parents to meet each other prior to the games in September.
The teams moved on to building an ‘as one’ mentality, working on communication and team building with each other. Various fun games helped to emphasize the importance of communication and contact between teammates will help to build successful teams.
The teams finally settled down around 12am to sleep (or not sleep in most cases).
The following morning we saw our students share breakfast and continue to build chemistry with each other.
They then took on an hour and a half of fitness including long runs, hill sprints, and a variety of upper and lower body strength circuit work. A tough morning, made memorable with incredible singing from the students showing effort, togetherness, and resilience.
