Kāhui Ako Samoan Language Week Competitions

Talofa lava - manuia le vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa!

We had three students enter the Ķāhui Ako Samoan Language Week Art Competition. The competition was good and very difficult to separate and choose a winner. Our judge was Andrew Maea-Brown, a teacher from One Tree Hill College.

All artists showed a great deal of talent and creativity. Although students from Marist College won both categories, our young men should be very proud of the pieces they produced and these will be displayed in the art room. Well done and I look forward to seeing more artwork from across our Kāhui Ako for Term 3 Language Weeks.

Bake Sale for Samoan Victim Support Group

On Thursday 1 June, we were treated to an old school bake sale to raise money for the ‘Samoan Victim Support Group’. A huge thank you to everyone in our school community for the overwhelming donations of delicious goodies. Thank you also to the school staff who helped out on the day to ensure that this was a successful fundraising event. It was incredibly humbling to see the generosity of our parents, students and staff who supported the cause by purchasing these treats. All money raised from the bake sale will be added to the monetary donation made by our Catholic school communities to assist with the day to day running of the SVSG in Samoa.

Mrs Brough and Mr Stanbridge are representing St Paul’s College as part of a group from our Auckland Catholic Kāhui Ako who will be travelling to Samoa in the July school holidays to work with the Samoan Victim Support Group. As part of this service trip, they will be delivering resources which have been donated, and presenting the Samoan Victim Support Group staff with the monetary gifts raised from our Auckland Catholic Kāhui Ako schools.
