Stephen Thomas (Year 11), delivered this speech to staff and students at our school assembly earlier this week.
In life, it is our perspectives that shape the colours, patterns, and emotions we experience. Perspective is the lens through which we interpret the world around us, influencing our understanding, reactions, and decisions. It is the powerful tool that allows us to see beyond the surface, to empathise, and to connect with others on a deeper level.
As we journey through life, let us remember that our perspectives are not fixed; they evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with diverse experiences. Embracing different viewpoints enriches our understanding, fostering a world where empathy and unity thrive. In the words of Anais Nin, "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." So let us strive to cultivate a perspective that fosters compassion and curiosity, enabling us to create a brighter and more harmonious world for all.
