On Thursday 7 September our Year 12 Health students organised for the Heart Foundation Pacific Beat Team to come to St Paul's College and deliver an interactive workshop all about nutrition.
We learnt about the four food groups with tips and ideas of how to include all four groups in our meals, the good and the bad fats and how and why we should try and cut down or swap out bad fats. We worked out how much sugar is in our drinks which was a real eye opener! and we also learnt how to read food labels so we can make informed choices when choosing food items.
It was so great to see parents come along and several students too joining their parents or coming on their own. Thank you to Miss Lois for organising a lovely colourful and healthy spread of nibbles for the evening.
There will be information sent out before the end of term for all parents with resources / links and websites from the Heart Foundation that you can access and use.
We are looking forward to organising many more events with the Heart Foundation not only for our boys, but for all our St Paul's College whānau and community.
Keep an eye out for the next one!
