Ronald Joseph Patterson (Ron) was a very special person, he attended Sacred Heart on Richmond Road from 1939 to 1943, and passed away on 6 August 2024 aged 98 (the oldest Old Boy of the school). Throughout his whole life he always acknowledged the wonderful education he received as a boy, firstly at the Catholic Convent on Vermont St and later from the Marist Brothers at (then) Sacred Heart College, which is now St Paul's.  He was very grateful and proud of the education he received from the Marist Brothers and spoke of it often throughout his whole life. Ron always lived by the school motto  - Confortare Esto Vir. A kauri tree was planted on Friday 29 November 2024 in his honour. Ron's family is extremely grateful to Mr Simento and the staff for making this happen and will visit this memorial often.
