Each year, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. It is a 40-day season marked by repentance, fasting, reflection and celebration. This year, the Ash Wednesday Liturgy was run by the leaders of the Special Character Committee. They chose students from all levels across the school to participate in this special reverent liturgy. Every student and staff member came to receive the ashes on their foreheads, which carries a significant meaning for all Christians as a turning of hearts towards God in repentance and prayer. The symbolism of Ash Wednesday and Lent is remembering our mortality, need for salvation and the period of temptation and testing that Jesus faced in the desert.
