At this month’s Board Meeting Denis Wood, Chair of the Board for the last nine years, stepped down from the role. This was a planned move by Denis and we are ever so grateful to him for the many years of service that he has offered over his time on the Board. He has been instrumental in leading the innumerable changes that has seen the rise of St Paul’s College to the position it is in today. We sincerely thank Denis for his dedicated contributions to the Board, college and wider community and wish him every success for the future.
I take the opportunity to announce the appointment of Bernice Mene who was unanimously appointed Chair of the Board and takes on the mantle from Denis.
Bernice has been an elected parent representative of the St Paul's Board since 2016 and currently has two boys at school. Her background is in education, high performance sport and youth development programmes. She has a BA in Linguistics, Diploma in Secondary Teaching and a Postgraduate Certificate in Career Counselling. She captained the Silver Ferns for three of her ten year tenure in the side and has been involved in a range of government projects and boards since 2005. Last year she held a contract for Pacific Health provider Vaka Tautua and she currently works in People Development at Hyundai NZ.
We are privileged to have someone of Bernice’s calibre and experience to take on the role of Board Chair. We are extremely confident that the Governance of the college with Bernice at the helm and a dedicated team of Board members, will lead the college to even further success. We wish Bernice the very best in her new role and on behalf of the staff, students, parents and wider community congratulate her on accepting this role.
