Rugby League and Rugby Union
Sponsor for 1st XIII Rugby League
The college 1st XIII rugby league would like to thank Cale Baker (Business Manager) - Direct Recruitment and Old Boy Mike Williams - Hurt Locker Fitness for donating rugby boots to the team.
The players have been overwhelmed with the kind gesture and thanked the sponsors. They are looking forward to using the footwear during the games in the Auckland Competition and the Secondary Schools National Tournament. Once again thanks to Direct Recruitment and Hurt Locker Fitness. We really appreciate it.
2nd XIII Rugby League
The 2nd XIII rugby league team is made up of younger players and emerging talent, I have been most impressed with the depth we have in rugby union and league this year. This team has started their season well with three wins from three games, most recently a tough 16-14 win over Otahuhu College's 1st XIII, as the team plays in Senior A grade, they will meet opposition school's 1st XIII's - which inevitably consists of older, more experienced players. Well done to Braydon Sapolu (Year 11) and Lorenzo Stevenson (Year 11), who have been outstanding in every game, embracing the challenge of playing older, bigger players and showing 1st XIII coaches that these players are capable of playing at a high level.
1st XV Rugby Report
The 1st XV celebrated Old Boys Day with a win over Pakuranga College. Early tries to Jessiah Tanoa'i (Year 13) and Sio Kali (Year 12) got the team off to a good start. A strong defensive display led by Roman Tamatoa (Year 13) and AJ Jones (Year 13) kept Pakuranga out for most parts of the game and despite the large penalty count, St Paul's went on to score six more tries, including two from Levron La'Akulu, to win 48-12.
There is no 1st XV rugby over Queen's Birthday weekend, however, the team will be back the following week when they play their first away fixture against Otahuhu College. We would like to thank all our families, teachers and our Old Boys who came down to support the team.
