St Paul’s Year 9 students took time out of everyday school life to reflect upon their spirituality and build camaraderie during their Year 9 Retreat held on Thursday the 12th of March.
Religious Education teachers Mr Matt Toua and Mr Dominic Schryvers accompanied them on the retreat held at St Francis, Ponsonby. Mr Schryvers says the students were guided to talk about their spiritual goals and to reflect on their personal choices.
Camaraderie was strengthened and team building skills sharpened using group exercises, including one in which the teams had to prepare and present a choreographed TikTok-style dance routine to each other.
Because a number of Year 9s are new to the school the teachers also took time to discuss some of the important symbols and rituals of the Catholic Church.
