Vinnies Shoebox Christmas
Our students have achieved something incredible! On Thursday last week, Mrs Twomey and Mr Schryvers invited our young men to take part in our first ever “Shoebox Christmas” initiative. The idea is that people fill a shoebox-sized box with small gifts and treats to give to those less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas, those who may not be receiving any gifts or are unable to enjoy peace in this holy season.
Our boys blew us away by preparing and wrapping close to 100 gift boxes in a few days. This week, Mrs Twomey, Mr O’Hanlon and Mr Schryvers delivered the boxes to the new St Vincent de Paul headquarters in Onehunga. The team were blown away by the effort our young men and their families made, saying that St Paul’s really set the bar high for other schools.
We’re so proud to see the true Christmas spirit alive and well at our college. If you would like to give to St Vincent de Paul this Christmas, please go to svdpak.org.nz and find “Feed a Family”.
